The Journey Is
The Destination.
Lots of people ask: why breastfeeding? How did it all get started? Once I had my own babies and I experienced such an intense learning curve with breastfeeding. I realized that helping families during their tender postpartum time is the most important work. I was disappointed in the lack of breastfeeding education I received during pregnancy and I wanted to offer my knowledge to other parents in my community. I had the strong urge to shift my career from retail entrepreneurship to help guide new parents during that tender time. I received IBCLC Lactation training at UCSD and now I serve families as a Lactation Consultant and educator as well as a postpartum group facilitator in Sonoma County California. I also hold my BA and M. Ed from Vanderbilt University in Leadership and Organizational Studies.
I arrived at this work by noticing that infant feeding is not an easy topic, it’s awkward, emotional, and often fraught with complications (queue the mom guilt!). But I have a unique talent: I can take something that is a bit awkward and very emotional and I can make it fun and even a little bit funny. With a knack for that, and an ease with babies and not to mention a lot of training in the health sciences I could help transform people’s infant feeding stories. I want to help people achieve their breastfeeding goals and bond closely with their babies. My practice is evidence based, holistic and I follow all of the current American Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine Protocols. I believe in the uniqueness of every feeding journey and I am confident that together with an open mind we can help you achieve your goals.
Please let me help you, we’re going to laugh about it, I’m sure. ;-) Call me up, I’ll put you down on my schedule and we’re going to figure it out.
